Surgical treatments

Labiaplasty

Labioplasty it is a procedure performed on women with excessively large labia minor. It is usually performed under local anesthesia with intravenous administration of analgesics, or it can be done in general anesthesia.

It consists in a partial excision of the mucosa and internal connective tissue, so that after the procedure, the smaller labia are hidden between the labia majora. This procedure can be extended with additional correction of the clitoral foreskin.

The excision of excess labia in my practice consists in elongated, ** not wedge-shaped **, excess lip removal. After the procedure, a scar remains on the top of the lip, which with time is almost invisible hidden in the natural wrinkles of the labia minora.

After the treatment, there is swelling and bruising that disappear after about 1-2 weeks. Sexual intercourse should be avoided for 6 weeks.

Consequences and possible complications after labioplasty:

  1. Swelling and it should be a consequence of surgery, not a complication.
  2. Hematoma, requiring surgical intervention and removal of the complication.
  3. Infection and wound dehiscence
  4. Permanent pain persisted, sometimes preventing sexual contact, especially if the scar is too close to the clitoris.
